Google Wins Backing From Two Android Phone Makers in Court Fight

(Bloomberg) -- Google will be backed by two Android phone manufacturers and one web software firm in a European Union court challenge to a 4.3 billion-euro ($4.7 billion) fine from EU regulators last year for unfairly linking apps to Android software, the court said in an order made public on Thursday.

Gigaset Communications GmbH, HMD Global Oy and Opera Software AS will be allowed to speak on behalf of Google in the case, along with industry groups the Application Developers Alliance and the Computer & Communications Industry Association, the EU’s General Court said. CCIA backed the EU in a court battle with Microsoft over a decade ago.
