Ghislaine Maxwell Lawyers Say They May Rest Case on Friday

Lawyers for Ghislaine Maxwell told the judge they could rest their case Friday, giving the British socialite two days of defense after facing two weeks of prosecution witnesses.

The decision on whether they will rest depends on whether the judge presiding over the sex-trafficking case allows them to call several more witnesses, her lawyers said after jurors left the room for the day. Maxwell’s defense began Thursday with her team calling a former personal assistant and a psychologist to question her accusers’ account of events.

Last week, the defense gave notice that it had as many as 35 witnesses lined up to take the stand.
