French industry confidence stabilized in May, but it’s still far from regaining the ground lost during the lockdown. That view is also true of the broader economy -- for the euro area as well as France. While the trough may have been reached, recovery is expected to be very slow and gradual, with what might be termed “normal activity” unlikely to be reached for some time
