Florida Governor Expands Isolation Order for New York Travelers

(Bloomberg) --

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said he’s expanding efforts to contain virus spread among travelers from the New York City area, requiring everyone who has flown from that region in the past three weeks to self-isolate.

To enforce the measures, the Florida National Guard met flights from the area as they arrived Tuesday at South Florida’s major airports, DeSantis said in a video briefing. The guard will expand to smaller airports soon, he said.

Under the new order, all travelers in the past three weeks are being asked to provide information about where they plan to self-isolate while in Florida and to report any contacts they may have had in the state. The travelers are also being given information about health officials they need to contact if they become symptomatic.

An order Monday required those arriving from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut to self-isolate, but it wasn’t retroactive.
