FDA Recalls Some Staff Including 100 Investigators Amid Shutdown

(Bloomberg) -- In addition to staff already working high-risk jobs, FDA has recalled around 100 investigators and 35 supervisors to perform critical domestic food safety inspections, agency’s Commissioner Scott Gottlieb says in tweets.

  • FDA’s Office of Import and Enforcement Operations also has 450 staff in the field supporting critical safety operations at International Mail Facilities and ports of entry
  • Says "we’re targeting the riskiest products to make sure that Americans remain protected"
  • More staff could be on the way depending on need
