Dubai to Halt Metro, Tram Services From Sunday, Gulf News Says

(Bloomberg) --

Dubai will suspend metro and tram services from Sunday as the Middle East’s business hub seeks to limit the spread of the coronavirus, the Gulf News reported, citing a circular from the operator Serco Group Plc.

All stations on the metro red and green lines are to be closed from April 5 until further notice, according to the newspaper.

Dubai has already locked down one of the city’s densely populated areas that’s home to the gold souk and museums. The United Arab Emirates, of which Dubai is a part, has restricted the movement of people between 8pm and 6am.

The Gulf nation has reported 1,505 virus cases so far, including 241 new cases on Saturday.
