Denmark to Introduce Targeted Help to Businesses Hit by Virus

(Bloomberg) --

Denmark will soon present measures designed to boost liquidity and support businesses most affected by the coronavirus outbreak, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said.

Frederiksen said a key priority is to ensure that small and medium-sized companies don’t run out of cash or suffer too much as a result of a drop in demand. Those operating in the tourism and transport were singled out.

The government is also considering possible extensions to existing tax payment deadlines.

“This will hurt the Danish economy faster than many had probably expected,” Frederiksen told reporters in Copenhagen on Monday.

Denmark has had 59 confirmed cases of the virus so far.
