Joe Biden will formally accept the Democratic Party’s nomination for president Thursday, capping a week of carefully curated videos and performances designed to inspire supporters and make the case that he represents the only way forward for a country facing crises on multiple fronts.

Here’s a look at the main events, starting at 9 p.m. New York time, and where to see them:

How to Watch

No problem. The events will be livestreamed by the Democratic National Committee at DemConvention.com, and YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Twitch, Amazon Prime Video, Microsoft Bing, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Roku TV.

Major speeches starting at 10 p.m.: Biden. His children Ashley and Hunter Biden will speak directly before the nominee. There will be a tribute to his late son Beau Biden earlier in the program.

The Chicks will sing the national anthem. The trio recently changed their name from the Dixie Chicks in wake of the George Floyd protests. Also performing: singer John Legend and rapper Common, both of whom are vocal critics of Trump.

Representative Cedric Richmond will lead the pledge of allegiance, Sister Simone Campbell will give the invocation and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who starred in Veep, will emcee.

What to Watch

The night’s theme is “America’s Promise” and will be a testament to Biden’s decades of public service and feature people who can “speak to Joe Biden’s leadership and character,” according to the DNC.

The lineup is almost entirely composed of candidates who sought the Democratic nomination or were floated as possible vice-presidential picks.

  • Booker, Buttigieg, Yang and Bloomberg all ran against Biden in the Democratic primary. Yang wasn’t initially announced as a speaker and tweeted his dismay when the first list was released.
  • Bottoms, Baldwin and Duckworth were all viewed as contenders to be Biden’s running mate and Duckworth is said to have been one of the finalists. Bottoms only recently garnered national attention for her handling of coronavirus and the George Floyd protests in Atlanta.
  • Legend and his wife, model Chrissy Teigen have long feuded with the president, both sides tweeting criticisms.
  • After three days of hyping up the \nominee, it’s Biden’s turn to speak. Listen for how he ties in themes discussed throughout the convention -- unity, leadership and diversity -- into his vision for the country.
