Cuomo Wins Third Term as New York Governor

(Bloomberg) -- Democrat Andrew Cuomo easily won a third term as New York governor, AP projects, fueled by discontent with President Donald Trump in one of the nation’s most liberal states.

Cuomo beat Republican challenger Marc Molinaro, the executive of Dutchess County in southeast New York. With the victory, Cuomo matches the three terms served by his father, the late Mario Cuomo. Andrew Cuomo’s campaign focused mostly on Trump, who received 37 percent of the 2016 vote for president in his native New York.
