Credit Suisse Chairman Says He Has a Lot of Shareholder Support

(Bloomberg) --

Credit Suisse Group AG Chairman Urs Rohner said that he has a lot of support from the bank’s largest shareholders, after Chief Executive Officer Tidjane Thiam stepped down following a boardroom battle.

Rohner, speaking in an interview on Friday, said that the bank will “agree to disagree” with shareholders who earlier this week said that he should publicly back the CEO or consider stepping down before his term ends next year.

Thiam was ousted as CEO of Credit Suisse Group on Friday, losing a showdown with the chairman in the wake of a tabloid scandal that unnerved the Swiss establishment.

Thiam was replaced by Thomas Gottstein after a board meeting in Zurich on Thursday.
