Bush Eulogist: Those on ‘High Road of Humility’ in D.C. Don’t Face ‘Heavy Traffic’

(Bloomberg) -- Former Senator Alan Simpson, known for his dry wit during his tenure in Washington, didn’t disappoint the audience at the funeral of his close friend, former President George H.W. Bush.

In a heartfelt testimonial, the Wyoming Republican talked of Bush’s competitiveness, humor, spirit and willingness to make difficult decisions. Simpson received warm laughter from listeners, who included President Donald Trump, and his predecessors Barack Obama, Bush’s son George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, when he discussed the senior Bush’s lack of vanity.

“Those that travel the high road of humility in Washington are not bothered by heavy traffic,” said Simpson.
