BOE Policy Space to Heal Virus Scars? 390 Billion Pounds

(Bloomberg) -- Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey warned last week that the damage caused by the coronavirus lockdown could leave the economy scarred. A sluggish recovery would put the prospect of more BOE easing on the table. Estimates by Bloomberg Economics suggest the central bank still has plenty of space to expand its current quantitative easing program. There are around 390 billion pounds ($490 billion) of gilts currently available to buy and that’s before the enormous issuance due this year.
