Germany’s Bayerische Motoren Werke AG baffled users online as it slowly counted to 500,000 on its Twitter account throughout the course of several hours without elaboration.
At 9 a.m. local time the company revealed that it reached its target of selling 500,000 electrified BMW Group vehicles. The company had earlier announced that it aims to deliver half a million electric vehicles by the end of 2019 and stepped up its target to 700,000 by 2025 back in June.
Shares remained unimpressed, falling about 0.3% to 74.9 euros at 9:23 a.m. local time.
