Blankfein Breaks Twitter Hiatus to Weigh In on Progressives

Lloyd Blankfein, the former Goldman Sachs Group Inc. chief executive officer, broke a one-year hiatus on Twitter to take a jab at Bernie Sanders and progressives.

In response to a tweet by the Democratic senator of Vermont calling to “end Big Pharma’s greed,” Blankfein wrote: “Before you try to kill the industry, let them finish perfecting” vaccines and treatments for Covid and other diseases.

Blankfein also commented earlier Saturday on the previous day’s Capitol Hill political drama, writing “Progressives blinked.”

The House passed a historic infrastructure bill on Friday but failed to land a vote on a more than $1.75 trillion tax-and-spending package embraced by the Democratic Party’s progressive wing.

Blankfein last tweeted in October 2020, weighing in on stimulus negotiations in Congress. He left Goldman in 2018 after more than four decades, and told Bloomberg TV last month he’s now focused on philanthropy, history and day trading.
