BBVA Employee at Madrid HQ Has Tested Positive for Coronavirus

An employee at BBVA’s headquarters in Madrid has tested positive for coronavirus, according to internal email to staff seen by Bloomberg News.

The case was confirmed March 10, according to the email. The bank has shut-down the building, called Asia, in which the employee worked and has also closed all pantries and cafeterias, as well as the gym and nursery at the HQ.

The bank also recommends remote working for staff at the HQ whose duties allow them to do so.

A spokesperson for BBVA confirmed the content of the email when contacted by Bloomberg.
