BBC News to Cut 450 Jobs to Complete Cost-Savings Target

(Bloomberg) -- British Broadcasting Corporation is preparing to cut an estimated 450 jobs from its operations, as it tries to achieve savings of 80 million pounds by 2022, it says in an emailed statement.

The British broadcaster will cut jobs in Victoria Derbyshire, Newsnight, 5Live and the World Service English. It now intends to organize around news stories rather than programs, which it hopes will help cut back on duplication. The number of stories covered should also be smaller, BBC says.

BBC News notes it has already saved about half of the 80 million pound goal and the announced changes will complete the necessary savings.
