Austria Closes Passage from Italy Without Health Clearance

(Bloomberg) -- Austria won’t allow travelers from Italy to enter the country unless they can present a medical certificate demonstrating health, Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said Tuesday.

“There’s now an immigration stop for people from Italy, except those who have a medical certificate,” Kurz told journalists in Vienna. The foreign ministry is bringing home Austrians from Italy, and they will be quarantined for two weeks, he said.

The measures are coordinated with Italy, Kurz said.
