An Australian Fine-Dining Landmark Turns to Takeout

(Bloomberg) -- Melbourne fine-dining landmark Attica, one of the world’s best restaurants, is offering an “at-home” service to diners following the Australian government’s shut down of non-essential services amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The menu options for delivery include an A$110 ($65) option for two people, featuring spice crusted lamb shoulder or for A$60 the chefs eponymous lasagna, a garden salad and garlic bread, according to its website. Attica is ranked the 84th top restaurant in the world.

Attica joins the swathe of other dining establishments scrambling to remain viable around restrictive measures implemented by state and federal governments to quell the spread of Covid-19 in Australia. Others including Brae, ranked 101th in the world, decided to close their doors amid the outbreak.

Meanwhile, at the other end of town, Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Ltd.’s shares are little changed year-to-date, compared to a 31% drop by the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 Index.

But it’s not as bright for Collins Foods Ltd., which received more than 80% of its 2019 fiscal year revenue from fast-food chain KFC Australia. It announced it’s shutting in-restaurant dining in response to coronavirus concerns and moving to a take-away model. Shares in the Queensland state-based firm are down 47% this year.
