Angolan President Flies Abroad, Despite Own Global Flight Ban

(Bloomberg) --

Angolan President Joao Lourenco flew to Windhoek, Namibia, for the inauguration of President Hage Geingob’s second term, about 24 hours after his country started a 15-day suspension of all passenger flights because of the coronavirus.

The presidency announced the trip in an emailed statement. Angola reported its first two Covid-19 cases on Saturday, RNA said.

The government has taken measures including prohibiting public gatherings of more than 200 people to curb the spread of the virus after neighboring countries registered cases.
