Amazon Video Executive Greg Hart Resigns for Role at Compass
(Bloomberg) -- A top executive at Amazon.com Inc.’s streaming service has resigned to join SoftBank-backed real estate brokerage Compass.
Greg Hart is joining Compass as chief product officer. He’ll report to Chief Executive Officer Robert Reffkin, according to a statement Thursday that confirmed an earlier report by Bloomberg News.
“Compass is unlike any other company in real estate or technology,” Hart said in the statement. “The company truly views agents as customers and has made it their mission to provide these customers with services and software necessary to take their business to the next level in today’s digital economy.”
Hart spent more than two decades at Amazon. After joining the company in 1997, he held roles including technical adviser to CEO Jeff Bezos, vice president of Amazon Echo and Speech and, most recently, vice president of Amazon Video.
In 2018, Compass hired Joseph Sirosh from Microsoft Corp. to be its chief technology officer.
Last month, Amazon tapped Sony Corp. executive Mike Hopkins to lead its studios division and streaming service service. Jennifer Salke, a former NBC executive hired in 2018 to oversee Amazon’s studios, and Hart were to report to Hopkins, Bloomberg News reported at the time.
