After Peso Crisis, Argentines Cut Back Summer Trips to Uruguay

(Bloomberg) -- Argentines are sharply cutting back travel to one of their favorite summer destinations after the peso lost 50 percent of its value last year and the economy plunged back into recession.

Only 322,301 Argentines went to Uruguay from Dec. 24 to Jan. 22, about a third less than the year before and even fewer than the 2016 recession, according to Argentine government data. Argentines flood neighboring Uruguay’s beaches during the summer.
