(Bloomberg) -- U.S. insurer Aflac Inc. expects a surge in claims as more people seek treatment for the coronavirus.
“We are preparing for what we believe will be coming our way, which is an increase in claims,” Teresa White, president of the company’s U.S. unit, said Tuesday in a Bloomberg Television interview. “Claims will start coming in as people start to get more comfortable with going to the hospital.”
The company was well-capitalized at the end of 2019 and is running pandemic scenarios and models to anticipate risks, she said.
