New York’s New Mayor Eric Adams Will Be Sworn in at the Times Square New Year’s Celebration

New York City Mayor-elect Eric Adams will take his oath of office in Times Square during the New Year’s Eve celebration Saturday morning.

Adams will be sworn in using his family’s Bible in the minutes after the ball drops. Former Mayor Mike Bloomberg, the founder and majority owner of Bloomberg LP, the parent company of Bloomberg News, was also sworn in during the celebration in January 2002.

“Times Square has long been synonymous with the New Year -- a place of excitement, renewal, and hope for the future,” Adams said in a statement. “These are the same themes that animated my campaign and will inform my mayoralty, as I prepare to lead the city out of this challenging period.”
