Ahead of Earnings, Tesla's Musk Tweets on Atari Games Tie-Up

(Bloomberg) -- Tesla’s Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk, just an hour and a half ahead of Tesla’s highly anticipated earnings, was focused on a release of other sorts -- old Atari video games.

“Some of best classic @Atari games coming as Easter eggs in Tesla V9.0 release in about 4 weeks,” the CEO tweeted. Even though he didn’t say exactly which games, he did say Tesla was hoping to include Pole Position, Tempest and Missile Command, “with Pole Position linked to actual car steering wheel” -- while in stationary position, of course. He didn’t mention other Atari retro classics such as Pac-Man, or Asteroids.

Musk’s playful tweets on so-called Easter eggs, or hidden features that require specific gestures to unlock, come as investors await Tesla’s second quarter earnings after the market closes tonight. Investors will be watching his performance closely on this afternoon’s conference call after signs of exasperation and hostility last time. Tesla’s shares have dropped 20% since trading to a 2018 high on June 18.
