South Africa's ANC Postpones NEC Meeting on Zuma's Future

(Bloomberg) -- The top decision making body of South Africa’s ruling party has postponed a meeting Wednesday called to decide on whether to force President Jacob Zuma from office.

The decision to postpone the meeting came after “constructive” talks between Zuma and Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa, Pule Mabe, spokesman for the ruling African National Congress, said late Tuesday. Ramaphosa replaced the president as leader of the ruling African National Congress in December.

Earlier, parliament decided to ask Zuma to delay his state-of-the-nation address scheduled for Thursday due to fears of violence, National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete told reporters outside parliament in Cape Town.
