(Bloomberg) -- U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May will meet French President Emmanuel Macron next month as Britain gears up for trade talks with the European Union, according to officials from both nations.
The meeting will be held near London, the French president’s office said. May’s office confirmed the leaders will meet and said more details will be provided closer to the time.
Macron may use the meeting to discuss Britain financing some of the border controls between the two countries after Brexit, the Telegraph newspaper reported earlier.
Having reached an agreement over the Brexit bill after months of infighting within her party, the issue of who pays for tighter border checks could prove a further headache for May, as she seeks to agree a transition period as well as a trade deal with the bloc.
