Greenhill Promotes Pieter-Jan Bouten to Head of U.K. Banking

(Bloomberg) -- Greenhill & Co promoted Pieter-Jan Bouten to head its U.K. investment bank, replacing Anthony Parsons, who left to join HSBC Holdings Plc earlier this month.

Bouten had been a managing director at Greenhill covering European clients with a focus on telecommunications, media and technology, according to the website of the U.S.-based bank. He joined Greenhill in 2001 and will continue to work in London. The promotion was confirmed by an official for the bank.

Greenhill has advised on deals including Tesco Plc’s $4.6 billion purchase of Booker Group Plc, which pooled the U.K.’s biggest supermarket chain with the No. 1 food wholesaler. More recently, it advised U.K. bookmaker Ladbrokes Coral Group Plc in its talks with GVC Holdings Plc, which plans to acquire it for as much as 3.9 billion pounds ($5.2 billion).

A Belgian national, Bouten graduated from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven with a master’s degree in law and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, according to his biography. He also holds a law degree with distinction from King’s College London.
