Mugabe, Wife Are Said to Travel to Singapore From Zimbabwe

(Bloomberg) -- Former Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe has left the country with his wife, Grace, for Singapore, where he receives regular medical attention, in his first foreign trip since being ousted by the military, a person familiar with his movements said.

Mugabe, 93, has in the past said he visits the Asian country for specialist eye treatment. Mugabe and Grace were due to travel to Singapore Nov. 15 for medical treatment and a holiday. Their plans were disrupted when Mugabe was placed under house arrest in his private mansion in the early hours of Nov. 15.

The former first couple, deposed by the military Nov. 15, are also joining their daughter Bona in Singapore. Bona traveled to Singapore because she’s expecting her second child, Bloomberg was told by a close family friend who can’t be named because he wasn’t authorized to discuss the matter with the press. Six calls to the presidential office weren’t answered.
