(Bloomberg) -- The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board has joined an investigation into Monday’s disappearance of a plane carrying a New York designer and her two sons.

The accident-investigation agency said in a Tweet on Wednesday that the plane went missing 35 miles (56 kilometers) northeast of the Bahamas while flying from Puerto Rico to Florida. The plane disappeared from radar at about 1:30 p.m., according to a statement by the Federal Aviation Administration.

The plane was carrying Jennifer Blumin, who is a prominent designer of event spaces in New York, her two children and her boyfriend, Nathan Ulrich, according to the Daily News. Blumin is the chief executive officer and founder of Skylight Group, according to her LinkedIn page.

The plane was a Mitsubishi MU-2B, a turboprop with a pressurized cabin. It is owned by Ithaca Consulting Inc. of Southold, New York, according to FAA records. The plane was being piloted by Ulrich, according to the Daily News.

The U.S. Coast Guard has found debris from the same plane model in a search of the area, according to a Tweet Wednesday.
