Asian stocks opened lower after a drop in U.S. equities, with investors digesting mixed corporate earnings and worsening economic data. Japanese shares slid as Tokyo traders returned from Golden Week holidays, and Korean equities dipped.

Here are the stocks to watch in trade today:

  • Horlicks, GSK Group to sell 5.69 percent stake in Hindustan Unilever for $3.3-$3.5 billion. Offering price range between Rs 1,850-1,950 per share, for 13.37 crore shares and the offer price range is at discount of 3-8 percent to the closing price on May 6. Offering is done via secondary placement of shares. GSK Group will have completely offloaded their holding in HUL post deal and the expected trade date is May 7.
  • Vedanta’s sale of over $1 billion stake in oil arm Cairn said to stall (Bloomberg News)
  • Maruti Suzuki to restart production of vehicles at its Manesar plant from May 12.
  • Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories received approval of celecoxib oral solution by USFDA. Drug is used to treat migraine.
  • Aster DM Healthcare’s diagnostics arm has started covid-19 confirmatory tests in Bengaluru.
  • TCS to provide digital banking solutions to US-based Continental Bank.
  • Indian Overseas Bank reduced MCLR by 5-10 basis points across various tenors with effect from May 10. One-Year MCLR at 8.1 percent and Three-Year MCLR at 8.25 percent.
  • BPCL: Numaligarh Refinery has awarded Rs 300 crore contract to Thysenkrupp (Bloomberg News)
  • NHPC: Board approved raising debt of Rs 2,000 crore for the fiscal year 2021.
  • Adani Transmission: Board to consider raising funds on May 9.
