Stocks Radar: Tata Motors, Jet Airways, ICICI Securities, MIDHANI

Here are the stocks moving the market this morning.

Indian equity benchmarks extended gains for the third consecutive trading session along with its peers in China, while rest of Asia traded in the red. Investors await China’s response to the Donald Trump administration’s latest move in the tariff war.

The S&P BSE Sensex rose as much as 0.3 percent to 33,478, while the NSE Nifty 50 Index was up 0.3 percent to 10,274.6.

The market breadth was firmly tilted in favour of the buyers. Seventeen of the 19 sector gauges on the BSE climbed, led by a 1.6 percent rise in the S&P BSE Realty Index. The S&P BSE Oil and Gas Index and Consumer Durables Index were the top sectoral losers, down 0.4 percent each.

Tata Motors: JLR Sales Push

Shares of the Mumbai-based automobiles major rose as much as 4.3 percent, most in five months, to Rs 357.8.

Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover reported an 83 percent jump in sales in the previous financial year. JLR India has also planned to launch at least 10 product in the country during the ongoing financial year.

Trading volume of the stock was 47 percent of the 20-day average. The stock has been rising for three consecutive sessions. The stock has returned a negative 17 percent so far this year as compared to NSE Nifty Auto Index which has given negative returns of 5.8 percent for the same period.

Jet Airways: Aircraft Shopping

Shares of the Mumbai-based airlines operator rose as much as 2.9 percent to Rs 631, rising for the second consecutive trading session.

Jet Airways (India) Ltd. agreed to buy 75 Boeing Co. 737 Max aircraft to help meet growing demand in the world’s fastest growing major aviation market, according to a Bloomberg report. This order is valued at $7.2 billion to $9.7 billion, the report added.

Trading volume of the stock was 3.1 times the 20-day average. The stock has given negative return of 24.6 percent so far this year as compared to Sensex’s negative returns of 1.8 percent.

Zensar Technologies: Contract Win Spurs

Shares of the Pune-based software developer rose as much as 9.1 percent, most in eight months, to Rs 986.8.

Zensar Technologies Ltd. has won a “multi-million dollar contract” from the City of San Diego for network services, it said in an exchange filing. The value of the order will be approximately $79 million.

Trading volume was four times the 20-day average. It trades at 18.1 times the trailing 12-month earnings per share.

Akzo Nobel: Rises On Buyback Buzz

Shares of the Gurgaon-based specialty chemicals maker rose as much as 6.8 percent to Rs 1,929, highest in almost three months.

Akzo Nobel India Ltd. will consider a proposal to buyback its own shares later this week, it said in an exchange filing.

Around 67 percent of the analysts covering this stock have a ‘buy’ recommendation while the rest have a ‘sell’ recommendation. Trading volume of the stock was 116.8 times the 20-day average.

New Listings

  • ICICI Securities:

ICICI Securities shares began trading at a discount of 17 percent at Rs 431 per share on the BSE, compared to its issue price of Rs 520. The stock recovered from its discovery price low and was trading at Rs 455, down 12.5 percent from its issue price.

ICICI Securities Rs 3,500 crore initial public offer was subscribed 0.78 times on the final day of bidding.

  • MIDHANI:

Mishra Dhatu Nigam shares were listed at a discount of 3.3 percent at Rs 87 per share on the BSE, compared to its issue price of Rs 90. The stock recovered from its discovery price low and was trading at Rs 89.65 down 0.38 percent from its issue price.
