Reforms such as the Goods and Services Tax and the Real Estate Regulatory Act and the government’s affordable housing push will benefit large organised players in the residential segment, according to ICICI Securities.

The success of the affordable housing scheme, however, will depend on existing land available and tie-ups for new projects, the report said.

The recovery in the residential real estate market will be gradual and sustainable but a full revival it may take 18-24 months. Office rentals, on the other hand, have already risen over 50 percent in the last three years and select malls have seen renewed traction in footfalls.
