Millennium's Flagship Hedge Fund Is Said to Gain 8.3% This Year

(Bloomberg) -- Izzy Englander’s Millennium Management returned 8.3 percent this year through September with its main hedge fund, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

The firm’s flagship multistrategy fund rose 1.1 percent last month, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the information isn’t public. The average hedge fund fell about 0.1 percent in September and gained 1.7 percent in the first nine months of 2018, on an asset-weighted basis, according to Hedge Fund Research Inc.

Citadel’s flagship Wellington fund rose 2.1 percent in September, bringing performance for the year to 13.5 percent, Bloomberg reported on Oct. 2. The firm’s Global Equities fund was up 1.4 percent last month, leaving returns through this year at 8.4 percent, a person familiar said. Its Tactical Trading fund, which uses equity and quant strategies, jumped 2.4 percent and is up 13.6 percent for the year.

Representatives for New York-based Millennium and Chicago-based Citadel declined to comment.
