Billionaire Alan Howard Paid $76 Million as Hedge Fund Rebounds

Billionaire Alan Howard’s payouts almost doubled in the year through March 2021 as the hedge fund firm he co-founded bounced back from years of outflows.

Brevan Howard Asset Management LLP paid him 55.8 million pound ($76.1 million), up from 29.9 million pound in the previous 12-month period, according to filing with the U.K.’s Companies House. Fee income at the firm soared to 169 million pounds from 86.7 million pounds, the filing shows.

The payout follows record gains in 2020 at hedge funds managed by Brevan Howard. The returns have helped the firm to win back investors and triple assets to about $18 billion at the end of November from lows in 2019, according to investor documents seen by Bloomberg.

A spokesman for the Jersey, Channel Islands-based investment firm declined to comment.

Although delayed, the filings provide a rare glimpse into the earnings at the hedge fund firm. Earlier this month, Rokos Capital Management said in its filing that the firm’s partners earned 914 million pounds, of which 509.4 million pounds went to founder Chris Rokos.
