Ashok Leyland Best On BSE Auto Index After June Sales Rise 11%  

The Chennai-based commercial vehicle manufacturer sold 12,330 units in June.

Ashok Leyland Ltd. reported 11 percent growth in sales in June, snapping two successive months of sales decline.

The Chennai-based automaker sold 12,330 commercial vehicles in June compared to 11,108 units in June 2016, according to its exchange filing.

  • Sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles rose 6 percent to 9,202 units.
  • Sales of light commercial vehicles outperformed, rising 29 percent to 3,128 units.

The Ashok Leyland stock rose as much as 6 percent to Rs 98.60 apiece, its biggest single-day gain since May 26. The stock is the top performer in the S&P BSE India Auto Index.
