ANC Says S. Africa Should Consider Freezing or Cutting Fuel Levy

(Bloomberg) -- South Africa should “seriously consider” freezing or decreasing its fuel levy to reduce the impact on consumers of record-high gasoline prices that took effect from Wednesday, the ruling African National Congress said.

The government should also increase its gasoline reserves and improve the governance and finances at the Road Accident Fund, national oil company PetroSA and the Central Energy Fund, the ANC said in a statement Wednesday.
