Bajaj Auto Sales Rise For Ninth Straight Month In April

Bajaj Auto Ltd.’s sales rose for the ninth straight month in April, driven by healthy performance of the commercial vehicles segment.

The two- and three-wheeler maker sold 4.15 lakh units last month, an increase of 26 percent from the year-ago period, the Pune-based company said in a statement today. Overall motorcycle sales rose 19 percent to 3.49 lakh units. Motorcycle sales in the domestic market rose 24 percent.

Commercial Vehicles: Highest-Ever Monthly Sales

Bajaj Auto’s commercial vehicle segment clocked its highest-ever monthly sales in April. They rose 83 percent year-on-year to 65,551 units.

  • Domestic sales rose 80 percent to 28,722 units.
  • Exports jumped 85 percent to 36,829 units.

Highest-Ever Exports

Exports rose to their highest in April. The automaker shipped 1.85 lakh vehicles, an increase of 22 percent from the year-ago month. That compares with a growth of 29 percent in the domestic market.

The company exported 1.48 lakh motorcycles in April, up 13 percent from a year ago.

Shares of the automaker extended gains for the third day and rose as much as 7.8 percent to Rs 3,183 apiece on the bourses in early trade. That compared with a 1.5 percent gain in the S&P BSE Auto Index.
