#MeToo Arrives In India. But Is Social Media Outrage Enough?

Indian women name and shame sex offenders on social media. Will legal action follow?

Scores of Indian women outed politicians, celebrities, journalists and comedians as the #MeToo movement arrived in India a year after it began in the U.S. when actor Rose McGowan revealed sexual assault by Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.

Over the past week in India, some chose to reveal themselves and the alleged perpetrator, while others preferred to go anonymous. That encouraged many others to narrate their experience of sexual harassment or assault by men in power, co-workers or friends, drawing outrage on social media.

But is that enough?
