IRS Officer SK Mishra Appointed Enforcement Directorate Chief

Mishra, is set to be the principal special director of ED, along with an additional charge of director for three months.

India Revenue Service officer Sanjay Kumar Mishra has been appointed as the new chief of the Enforcement Directorate in additional capacity, a government order today stated.

Mishra, a 1984-batch IRS officer of the income tax cadre, will now become the principal special director in the agency and has been entrusted with additional charge of ED director for three months.

Mishra will take over from incumbent Karnal Singh whose three-year tenure at the agency ends on Sunday.

Official sources said Mishra, who is currently posted as the chief commissioner of income tax in Delhi, will be empaneled soon as an additional secretary in the central government. In the interim, he has been allocated the top ED charge in additional capacity. The ED director post is an additional secretary rank post in the union government.

The ED enforces two major laws in the country to check black money the criminal Prevention of Money Laundering Act and the Foreign Exchange Management Act.
