Breaking his silence over the controversy related to appointments in the Supreme Court, Retd. Justice Madan Lokur said he was disappointed that the Dec. 12, 2018 resolution of the Supreme Court Collegium elevating two judges to the Supreme Court was not published on the website.

The collegium, of which Justice Lokur was a part, had resolved to appoint Chief Justice of Delhi High Court Justice Rajendra Menon and Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court Justice Pradeep Nandrajog to the Supreme Court.

However, in Jan. 2019, the collegium decided to elevate Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Dinesh Maheshwari to the Supreme Court which it said was done in the light of additional material made available to them. By this time, Justice Lokur had retired and the composition of the collegium had changed with the induction of Justice Arun Mishra in the collegium.

Justice Lokur was speaking at an event organised by The Leaflet in New Delhi.
