The Supreme Court on Friday accepted the resignations of Vikram Limaye and Ramachandra Guha as members of the Committee of Administrators of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

Limaye informed the apex court that he will soon take over as the managing director and chief executive officer of the National Stock Exchange and, therefore, won’t be able to continue in his position at the BCCI.

The apex court bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra accepted their resignations.

The bench also accepted the unconditional apology tendered by former BCCI President Anurag Thakur and dropped the contempt charges initiated against him for violating the top court’s orders.

The Committee of Administrators highlighted the conduct of two former BCCI office-bearers, N Srinivasan and Niranjan Shah. It said that while Srinivasan was disqualified to hold a board position, he still attended the BCCI annual general meeting as a nominee of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. The committee accused Srinivasan and Shah of “hijacking” the meeting.

The apex court observed that a member who stands disqualified to be an office-bearer cannot attend the meeting as a nominee. The bench issued notices to Srinivasan and Shah, to which they have to respond by the next hearing on July 24.

In April, the Supreme Court had ruled that Srinivasan cannot represent the BCCI in an International Cricket Council meeting.

Earlier, the court had accepted major recommendations of the Justice RM Lodha Committee on reforms in the BCCI, including a bar on ministers and civil servants and those above the age of 70 from becoming its members. It had also accepted the recommendations of the panel that there should be a Comptroller and Auditor General nominee in the BCCI and one-state-one-vote principle be applied.
