Exit Polls: BJP Seen Retaining Gujarat And Winning Himachal

Voting in the second and final phase of the Gujarat Assembly elections has come to an end. Polling was held for seats in north, west and central parts of Gujarat today. A total of 851 candidates were in the fray for the second phase. Voter turnout till 2 pm was recorded at 47.40 percent, wire agency ANI reported citing the Gujarat Election Commissioner.

The high-voltage campaigning in the state ended on Dec. 12. The results will be declared on Dec. 18

The C-Voter exit poll for Himachal Pradesh projects 41 seats for the Bharatiya Janata Party (up from 27), and 25 seats for the Congress (down from 36).

The C-voter poll sees the BJP cornering 47.6 percent of votes in Himachal Pradesh, against a projected 44 percent for the Congress.

The Bharatiya Janata Party is being projected to regain power from the Congress in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh, according to the India Today - Axis My India Exit Poll. The exit poll is estimating the BJP to get between 47 and 55 seats, well past the 37-seat majority mark in the 68-member assembly.

The same exit poll is also projecting that the BJP will have received every second vote cast in the Himachal Pradesh election that was held last month. A 50 percent vote share number would represent an 11 percent jump for the party, from the 2012 elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party is likely to win 109 out of 182 seats in Gujarat, says Times Now-VMR exit poll. The poll is based on provisional polling tally as of 4 pm.

The BJP is seen gathering 47 percent of all votes polled in Gujarat, according to the Times Now-VMR Exit Poll, down a little over 1 percent from the share the party gathered in the 2012 assembly elections.

The exit poll conducted by polling agency C-Voter is projecting 108 seats for the BJP, and 74 seats for the Congress in the 182-member state assembly.

C-Voter projects the BJP gathering 47.4 percent of the votes in Gujarat. The Congress vote share is expected to be around 43.3 percent according to the poll, which would represent a 3.5 percent rise for the party since the 2012 election.

The Bharatiya Janata Party is likely to retain power in Gujarat for the fifth consecutive time, according to the India Today - Axis My India Exit Poll, which projects that the party will bag between 99 and 113 seats, past the majority mark of 92. The Congress is exepcted to win 68-82 seats.

The Bharatiya Janata Party is being projected to cross the majority mark in Gujarat by around 25 seats, according to the mean tally of exit polls conducted by Times Now - VMR, C-Voter, and India Today - Axis My India exit poll. These are provisional numbers, based on exit polls released around 6 pm, and may be revised based on final voting data.
