Singapore Eases Quarantine Rules for Travelers From Hong Kong

Travelers from Hong Kong will have their quarantine requirement reduced from 14 days to a seven day stay-home notice, as Singapore adds Hong Kong to the list of places where the virus is deemed to be “well under control and the risk of importation is low.”

  • Singapore, in a statement late Monday, also tightened entry restrictions on several places, reflecting recent rises in cases:
    • Those with recent travel to Sabah in Malaysia will now be required to serve a 14-day quarantine at dedicated facilities; reflects recent rise in cases there
    • While rest of Malaysia requirements unchanged, Singapore says it is monitoring the situation in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Selangor
    • Travelers who’ve been to Indonesia or the Philippines within 14 days before entry, and aren’t Singapore citizens or permanent residents, will have to take a Covid-19 test within 72 hours of departure, the government said
    • Those transiting through Singapore who’ve traveled to India in last 14 days will also need to have valid negative Covid-19 test

In other travel related measures:

  • Singapore to resume issuing new visas.
  • Singapore also plans to increase the number testing sites available to travelers. There are now more than 150 clinics that give pre-departure tests.
