Russia’s Covid-19 Spike Likely to Dent Economic Recover
(Bloomberg) -- A surge in Covid-19 cases that led Russian authorities to reimpose some restrictions, reopen temporary hospitals and order mandatory vaccination of certain groups is likely to weigh on the economic recovery as countries further west reopen, according to Bloomberg Economics. “Growth was already likely to slow slightly in the second quarter, as the easy gains from reopening tapered off,” analyst Scott Johnson says. “The loss of momentum could be more pronounced in the third quarter, depending on how the spike in virus cases weighs on demand.”
