Only One Major Economy Is Seen Needing Less Power by 2050

(Bloomberg) -- Global demand for electricity generation is expected to surge 62% by 2050, but one major economy won’t be getting in on the power party. Slower economic growth and a declining population are expected to cut Japan’s electricity demand by 10% from its 2018 total, according to BloombergNEF. The decline makes the island nation the only major economy in the world forecast to drop during the period, with large expanding economies such as India and China responsible for driving much of world’s growth.
