Suburban trains are running on schedule on the western line in Mumbai, according to an update from Western Railway’s official Twitter handle.
Meanwhile, trains on the suburban section of the Central Railway are running late by 10-12 minutes due to the showers, Sunil Udasi, chief public relations officer, told PTI.
Saturday Rain Update
Heavy rainfall hit Mumbai this morning, in line with the meterological department’s prediction. On Thursday, the IMD had forecast “heavy to very heavy" rainfall along the Maharashtra coast over the weekend.
"Heavy to very heavy rainfall was recorded in the suburbs till 8.30 a.m.," IMD Deputy Director KS Hosalikar told PTI.
Mumbai’s Mahim area is currently waterlogged, according to reports by news agency ANI.

BMC Gears Up For Heavy Rain
With the meteorological department predicting "heavy to very heavy" rainfall along the Maharashtra coast over the weekend, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is preparing itself to prevent and deal with flood-related issues.
The Mumbai civic body has taken a number of precautionary measures to tackle any eventuality in view of extremely heavy rainfall warning by the India Meteorological Department from June 9 to 11, a statement issued by the civic body said.
Leaves of all the senior officials, including Deputy Municipal commissioners, Assistant Commissioners and heads of departments have been cancelled and they have been directed to be available in their headquarters on June 9 and 10 (Saturday and Sunday).BMC Statement
The BMC said three teams of National Disaster Response Force will be stationed at Parel, Mankhurd (for eastern suburbs) and Andheri Sports Complex (for western suburbs). They are equipped with walkie-talkies and flood rescue material.
Navy personnel will be deployed in Colaba, Worli, Ghatkopar, Trombay, Malad for flood rescue if required, the BMC release said.
In addition to this, six Flood Rescue Teams of Mumbai Fire Brigade will be posted at the Regional Command Centres and emergency support functions like BEST (bus transport system), police, traffic police and education officers have been alerted.

Rain Likely To Intensify Over Next Five Days, Says IMD
As parts of Mumbai woke up to heavy rainfall, the Indian Meteorological Department warned that the downpour is likely to increase over coastal Karnataka, Goa and south Maharashtra over the next few days.
"The widespread rainfall activity is likely to continue till June 10. It is very likely to extend to north coastal Maharashtra, including Mumbai from tomorrow," the department said in a statement.
A low pressure area is "very likely" to form over north Bay of Bengal during the next two days which is "very likely" to intensify into a depression and move towards the coast of West Bengal and Bangladesh, the statement added.
The IMD has issued a heavy rainfall warning over north Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya.
