(Bloomberg) -- Electronics retailers beware. Shoppers Down Under are most likely to turn to Amazon.com Inc.’s new Australian site for electrical appliances, followed by clothing, shoes and cosmetics, according to UBS Group AG. Such items are likely to make up more than 60 percent of Amazon’s Australian sales by fiscal 2023, UBS estimates. Researchers surveyed 1,008 consumers on their shopping preferences, and found 42 percent of respondents expect to spend more online when Amazon launches. While existing Aussie retailers will be well-placed to capture that traffic, they’ll have to contend with “more empowered” shoppers who are increasingly likely to price check.
