Emerging Market ETFs Rise for 2nd Week in $2.24 Bln Streak
(Bloomberg) -- Investors added money to exchange-traded funds that buy emerging market stocks and bonds last week. This was the second straight week of inflows.
Inflows to U.S.-listed emerging market ETFs that invest across developing nations as well as those that target specific countries totaled $1.4 billion in the week ended Sept. 3, compared with gains of $840.3 million in the previous week, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. So far this year, inflows have totalled $36.6 billion.
- Stock ETFs expanded by $1.07 billion.
- Bond funds rose by $332.7 million.
- Total assets rose to $359.2 billion from $348.3 billion.
- The MSCI Emerging Markets Index closed up 3.4 percent from the previous week at 1,315.91 points, the highest level since Jul 22, 2021.
- China/Hong Kong had the biggest inflow, of $1.01 billion, led by KraneShares CSI China Internet.
- India had the biggest outflow, of $115.1 million, following withdrawals from iShares MSCI India.
