Canada Has Arrested Huawei's Global CFO, Globe and Mail Reports

(Bloomberg) -- Canada has arrested Huawei Technologies CFO Wanzhou Meng, who is facing extradition to the United States on suspicion she violated U.S. trade sanctions against Iran, the Globe and Mail reported, citing a statement from Justice Department spokesman Ian McLeod.
- Meng, who is also the deputy chair of Huawei’s board and the daughter of company founder Ren Zhengfei, was arrested in Vancouver on December 1
- “She is sought for extradition by the United States, and a bail hearing has been set for Friday,” McLeod said in a statement to the Globe and Mail
- NOTE: In April, the U.S. Justice Department has joined two other agencies probing Huawei Technologies Co. for possible violations of sanctions banning sales to Iran, according to two people familiar with the matter
