India's wholesale inflation rose 3.85 percent year-on-year in April under the new series, government data showed on Friday. The base year of wholesale price index (WPI) was revised from 2004-05 to 2011-12.
The revision in the base year was aimed at capturing structural changes in the economy and improving the quality, coverage and representativeness of the index, the commerce ministry said in a statement.
